◆Bustle Class description (Previous class) The bustle we are making for this class is a 1870s Victorian era bustle. The 1870s dress shape was tight on top, smooth and close to the legs in the front of the skirt, with all the fullness extending to the back. Bustles were typically made with spring steel, which was strong enough to hold up heavy skirts and able to keep its shape. Sitting in the bustle is easy, it collapses up against the back like a spring. It is also easy to pack flat. The basic pattern for the bustle is one size fits all - the only variation is with the waist band. Control of the bustle's "pouf" is given by the lacing on the inside.
